Release Notes: Planche 2010 for Microsoft Windows

March 2008 CTP

This is a prototype showcasing the new Windows Presentation Foundation based user interface. It is lacking several features shown in Alpha 2, including dynamically loaded add-ins, client/server connectivity, calendar integration, localization.

• Vista-style task page
• Tournament, tournament fencers, competition, competition fencers pages
• Fecht-Turnier add-in: Display list of competitions, open competition as tournament.
• Engarde add-in: Open competition as tournament.

Known issues:

• The Engarde add-in assumes codepage 1252 (Western European) encoding, independent of your system codepage. (fixed in revision A: uses system codepage now)
• The Engarde add-in currently requires the presence of a nation.txt file in the same directory as competition.egw. If missing, simply create an empty text file of that name. (fixed in revision A: ignores nations if file missing and handles any further exceptions gracefully)

Alpha 2 (March 2006)

This is a feature-incomplete pre-release showcasing some underlying technologies.

You can create a tournament on the server, specifying name and date. The date selection showcases two supplied add-ins that list possibly conflicting fencing events.

The tournament can be modified by adding a competition, notifying all clients working on that tournament. Many other related features present in Planche .NET 2004 PR1a are not available in this release.

The data is persisted to disk but is not yet read at startup.

This version demonstrates cross-platform capabilities.
